Student Liaisons
Calling all those interested in volunteering as a student liaison.
Here’s what you need to know:
As with all CASSIG positions, the liaison is a volunteer-based role. As a prerequisite for serving as a liaison, one must be either a student physical therapist or a student physical therapy assistant.
CASSIG liaisons act primarily as a line of communication between their cohort (and/or program) and the CASSIG via the CASSIG secretary. When forwarded information by the secretary, liaisons are expected to disseminate CASSIG-related news to their respective cohorts promptly.
Liaisons are not invited to attend monthly CASSIG meetings as these meetings are reserved for board and committee chairs to discuss strategic planning matters. However, liaisons are encouraged to maintain bidirectional communication with the CASSIG secretary. Any matters requiring further consideration will be forwarded to the CASSIG executive board or discussed at a monthly meeting. The CASSIG appreciates receiving feedback, information, and the like from cohorts and/or programs via liaisons.
The CASSIG seeks to have at least one representative acting as a liaison from each PT and PTA cohort in California. When there is not a CASSIG liaison for each cohort of a given program, the liaison(s) for that program is/are expected to disseminate information to the entire program.
Students interested in a liaison position should contact the current CASSIG secretary at secretary.cassig@gmail.com to express their interest. If there is a current liaison for the same cohort, an arrangement will be made to ensure that information is not being sent in duplicate.
There is an expectation that, by accepting the role as student liaison for your cohort, you are committing to the position through the end of the year (December 31st). Near the end of the year, the standing CASSIG secretary will reach out to each liaison. At this point, each liaison is asked to confirm their continued interest in serving in this role or nominate another from their program to assume the role of student liaison.
